comic-con gallery addition

Posted By Josh Dillon
07.30.2009

We’ve added a new gallery of Comic-con schwag from Jeff’s recent trip to the 40th (!) Annual San Diego Comic-con.

In honor of this new gallery addition I’d like to also direct you to the site of Greg De Stefano, photographer of the strange world of hyper-realistic Nintendo characters. This gallery caught my eye when doing some research for a game that we were thinking of programming for one of our clients, and now seems like a good time to throw in a plug.

The art of jason hackenwerth

AC_BalloonArt5

I first saw the work of Jason Hackenworth when attending the Coachella Music Festival in 2007.

I was standing in a throng of people, waiting in a ridiculously long line for water in 105 degree heat, trying to stay lucid. I was familiar with the fair-like performance artists, the installation pieces and the crazy body-art-laden festival attendees, but I wasn’t quite prepared for walking balloon art, stalking through the crowd on the legs of dancers.

I can Read movie series

AC_i-can-read-movie-series-2

Every now and again I stumble across something that makes me wish I had designed it. Something simply done, with a lot of style and clever use of photoshop. This is one of those times.

Presented clearly, these book covers are based on popular movies with a 60′s dime store literature thematic twist. Use of repetition, color and layouts are top notch, not to mention excellent choice in movies represented. Spacesick has some other great work on his portfolio site, but the full array of the “I Can Read Movie Series” can be seen on his Flickr account.

Lawrence, Kansas Ultimate Apparel

AC_Lawrence_Ultimate_Frisbee_Shirt

This shirt was produced for the Lawrence Ultimate Summer League, in Lawrence, Kansas. In addition to the apparel design, which we have done for the past five years, frisbees (discs) are produced in conjunction to the yearly design.

Hundreds of our shirts have been printed and thousands of our discs are hopefully still flying on ultimate discsport fields across the country.

Invading the vintage

Posted By Josh Dillon
07.15.2009

Alien invasion and vintage Swiss postcards combine to make a Flickr photo set called “Invading the Vintage.” Illustrator Franco Brambilla has combined his trademark Sci-Fi style with vintage tourist postcards to add a creative twist on an old theme.

More images can be found in his Flickr photo set, as well as his portfolio site.
