Who needs Waldo?

Posted By Alupa Creative
01.07.2010

There’s no Waldo to be found in this piece by Joakim Dahlqvist, a European artist focusing on a ‘self-initiated study of superdense cities’ and neo-neo architectural elements and cityscapes, but there are plenty of other tidbits to be found upon closer examination.

Pantone official selection 2010

Posted By Josh Dillon
12.24.2009

It’s that time of the year… The time of year for starting paragraphs with the phrase “it’s that time of the year.”

…And because of this, Pantone has released the must-have color for 2010: Turquoise. Booyah.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

AC Featured on slideshowpro.net

Posted By Alupa Creative
12.11.2009

Because of our integration of slideshowpro for Flash into our portfolio site, we’ve been featured on the slideshowpro.net site under the best user examples of November, 2009. We made it to number two on this month’s list, but we promise to do better in the future. You can take a look at the list here and if you’re interested in seeing how we utilized this handy flash component, then you can visit the portfolio and navigate to the content section of the site.

If you’re a new user visiting from this link then feel free to take a look around and let us know if you have any questions. We’re here to help.

… on Saving Color for the Web

Posted By Josh Dillon
09.30.2009

color-shift-grid

This is by far and large the handiest damn article I’ve ever read on saving for web in photoshop. This correctly aligns ICC Profile expectations with in-browser color handling in Safari and FF 3.5. This is a must read article for those of you in the web design or multimedia design fields.

The post (in all it’s glory) can be found over at Viget Labs.

Being a bit of a night owl myself, it’s easy for me to understand 100% of what this article is talking about. Related in easy to understand instructions, here’s a basic explanation of a good night’s sleep, as told by Christoph Niemann, syndicated illustrator and my new hero.

New Bolle Shirt

Posted By Josh Dillon
09.15.2009

bolle09blog

Every year I do a shirt for Bolle to sell in their booth at the US Open. This year’s shirt is above.

Apparel has always been an important part of my creative framework. I enjoy the simplicity of the design limitations, the application of functional creativity and the chance to get down to some serious graphics work. A shirt’s image is more than just a straightforward graphic, it’s a chance to tie multiple layers of meaning into a single work.

Posted By Josh Dillon
09.03.2009

Scott McCloud is a personal hero of mine. When I was 12 I wrote him a letter explaining how awesome he was.

He wrote me back. By hand. He’s a classy, classy guy.

Civil Defense Gallery

Posted By Alupa Creative
08.12.2009

AC_civildefense_post

Ever wondered what to do in the event of an air strike on the US? In 1955? So did we.

We found this little gem at our friendly neighborhood resource for all things slightly pre-Apocalyptic, the antique mall. This, along with a dozen other equally disturbing (but amazingly informational) pamphlets were only a dollar a piece. You can’t find entertainment that good any more, we checked it out.

You can view the new gallery here.
